Today has been a day of mixed emotions. Today Tim got ordained by our church so now I am married to a Reverend, Rev. Timothy Dekle! It’s pretty exciting. Someone once told me, many years ago, I would make a great pastor’s wife… lol. I don’t know about that, but I never actually thought I would be married to one. SURPRISE! We pray this step will give more credibility and open more doors to serve in Tennessee.
Today was also the day we said goodbye to our beloved church family for the next six months. I am not one to cry in public, but I had an extremely hard time keeping the tears at bay, especially right before we sang a duet, the Gipsy boy, which led into Tim’s sermon.
Tim also taught Sunday School this morning. Before 8 o’clock last night he didn’t even know he was teaching. It was a God-thing he was working on a lesson for another church that would be quite appropriate to use in Sunday School. He ended up sharing about our summer and used some examples of the stories we use in the Story Barn.
What is the Story Barn? some of you may ask. It’s a mini barn on wheels that we take to the different county fairs in North Central Washington, along with other summer events. There we set up the Story Barn and tell stories to the children, teens and adults who come into the barn to hear them. Most of the stories are true stories. All our stories have a lesson or moral to them which points the listener to the Lord Jesus.
Extra family and also some of our Good News Teachers came to hear Tim preach and support him in being ordained at the end of the service. We were touched greatly and encouraged to have them share in this special event. We are very grateful for all those we have been able to work with these last 6 years, whether with the church or with Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is not easy to leave this area and the people we have grown to love. God has been so good.
Today is also the day I start this blog. I don’t understand how most of it works yet, so I am jumping into the deep end right off the bat! I haven’t even finished setting up this website. I guess it’s learn as we go… That’s a good thing, right? I hope so. It is my hope and desire to use this blog not only to let you know what God is doing on in our lives, but also to be an encouragement to you, our reader.
We leave Moses Lake on Tuesday morning…
So glad you are using the love and gift for writing God has given you – love you!
I look forward to hearing more about what you are doing in Tennessee.
